What is Urban Golf*?

Urban Golf has evolved dramatically in recent years and is now a recognised sport worldwide. But it didn’t start that way. In the early days, it was raw, creative, and a little rebellious.

In the late ’90s, a few pioneers decided to play golf outside traditional courses — simply because they couldn’t access them. Back then, only standard hard balls existed, so they played in gravel pits, empty lots, or abandoned spaces.

In 2000, one of the first Urban Golf clubs in the world was founded in Switzerland. Others followed, and the movement grew. With the invention of the “almostGOLF” ball — one-third the weight — safe urban play became possible. Today, there is a national association and multiple clubs meeting regularly, even competing in European and World Championships.
